KFC Malaysia Extends Care to Underserved Communities with 20,000 Face Mask Contribution Through NGO Partners

Building on the success of the KFC Harvest Programme, the initiative reflects KFC Malaysia’s commitment to community well-being and responsible impact.

PETALING JAYA, 17 October 2026 – KFC Malaysia reaffirmed its commitment to community well-being through the contribution of 20,000 face masks to support vulnerable and underserved communities across the Klang Valley. The initiative reflects KFC Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to create meaningful social impact while addressing the immediate needs of communities facing daily challenges, particularly amid recent air quality concerns affecting parts of the country.

The contribution is a collaborative effort between KFC Malaysia and its Harvest Programme partners, Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) and The Lost Food Project (TLFP), two long-standing community partners with extensive outreach networks that serve underserved and at-risk groups. Through these strategic partnerships, KFC Malaysia aims to ensure that essential support reaches those who need it most, reinforcing its commitment to building stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities.

The symbolic handover ceremony was held at Menara QSR, where representatives from both NGO partners received the face masks on behalf of the communities they serve. The contribution marks the beginning of a two-phase outreach effort aimed at providing additional care and protection to individuals facing hardship, including the homeless and underserved families.

A homeless individual receives a contribution of face masks and a pack of KFC meal from KFC Malaysia market coach, Mohd. Izraruddin Osman, during a community outreach programme at the Medan Tuanku Homeless Service Centre, Kuala Lumpur, recently.

In the first phase, KSK and TLFP will distribute the face masks through their outreach networks to beneficiaries in need. During the outreach session, KFC Malaysia representatives will join KSK and TLFP volunteers in distributing face masks and KFC meal packs to members of the homeless community on 17 October 2026 at Pusat Khidmat Gelandangan Medan Tuanku, Kuala Lumpur,

Through its NGO partners, KFC Malaysia hopes to bring timely support to those who need it most. Together, KSK and TLFP reach nearly 8,000 beneficiaries across the Klang Valley, including residents of charity homes and People’s Housing Programme (PPR) communities, with their impact extending even further through community outreach efforts nationwide.

The second phase of the initiative will be incorporated into upcoming activations under the KFC Harvest Programme, KFC Malaysia’s flagship food rescue initiative. Through future Harvest Programme distributions, beneficiaries at participating charity homes and community centres will receive face masks and freshly prepared KFC meals alongside frozen chicken contributions.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sahada Salihin, Head of Governance, QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd., said:

“We believe that our responsibility extends beyond serving great meals. We are committed to being a positive force in the communities we serve and supporting those who face daily challenges.

Through a collaborative effort with strategic NGO partners Kechara Soup Kitchen and The Lost Food Project, KFC Malaysia’s face mask contribution initiative is expected to benefit nearly 8,000 recipients, with a focus on supporting vulnerable communities amid recent air quality concerns.

The contribution of 20,000 face masks is a simple yet meaningful way to extend care and protection to vulnerable communities. By working closely with our long-standing partners, Kechara Soup Kitchen and The Lost Food Project, we can ensure that assistance reaches those who need it most.

This initiative also complements the work of our KFC Harvest Programme, which has enabled us to support communities through food redistribution while minimising waste. Together with our partners, we hope to continue creating a meaningful and lasting impact for the communities we serve.”

At QSR Brands and KFC Malaysia, creating positive community impact while managing resources responsibly remains at the heart of our sustainability efforts. Introduced locally in 2019, the KFC Harvest Programme rescues surplus food from participating restaurants and redistributes it through NGO partners to underserved communities and charity homes, helping to reduce food waste while enhancing food security.

Since its establishment, the programme has grown to include 170 KFC restaurants nationwide and redistributed over 61,000 kilograms of surplus food through NGO partners, benefiting thousands of individuals and families across Malaysia. By leveraging this community network, KFC Malaysia is also able to extend support beyond food assistance, delivering essentials such as face masks to communities in need.
