PENANG, 28 August 2018 – Residents in the sprawling at Botanica.CT Township in Balik Pulau will have more reason to cheer as popular fast food restaurant KFC will be opening its doors for business by the fourth quarter of 2019.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between MTT Properties & Development Sdn Bhd (MTT Properties), a subsidiary of MTT Group of Companies and QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd (QSR Brands), through its wholly owned subsidiary company, QSR Stores Sdn Bhd (QSR Stores) to provide KFC Drive-Thru restaurant service.

The MoU was signed by Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azahari Mohamed Kamil, Managing Director of QSR Brands and Dato’ Seri Kenny Ong, Group Executive Chairman of MTT Group of Companies in a ceremony held at Botanica Mansion, Balik Pulau. Also present at the ceremony were YB Dato’ Haji Abdul Halim Haji Hussain, Penang State Exco for Local & International Trade, Consumer Affairs and Entrepreneurship Development and Pulau Betong Assemblyman YB Haji Mohd Tuah Ismail.

Dato’ Seri Kenny Ong emphasized that this strategic collaboration between MTT Properties and QSR Brands marks another milestone to the development of Botanica.CT’s commercial parcel. The participation of the iconic restaurant brand as one of the major anchor tenants will enhance Botanica CT Centre’s potential as the future commercial landmark of Balik Pulau while providing an attractive amenity to the surrounding residents.

According to Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azahari, the strategic partnership offers an excellent opportunity for QSR Brands to expand its business and restaurant services. He added that as a market leader in Malaysia’s quick service restaurants industry, it aims to be easily accessible to consumers. The company will also place great emphasis on its expansion strategies to meet consumer demands, while continuing to strengthen its core product and service offerings.

“QSR Brands truly believes in Botanica.CT Centre’s potential in meeting the demands for Finger Lickin’ Good KFC in this locality. Through this partnership, we will be offering the community in Balik Pulau and the residents of Botanica.CT with 24 hours finger lickin’ good meals. The new store will be able to accommodate up to 180 customers and have a drive-thru section. MTT Properties’ solid reputation and QSR Brands being the leader in the quick-service restaurant segment in Malaysia, we are positive that we will be able to tap into each other’s resources towards achieving our missions,” he added.

Strategically located at the intersection of Jalan Sungai Rusa and Jalan Sungai Air Putih. Botanica CT Centre is part of the Botanica.CT garden township located in Balik Pulau where existing completed developments consist of terrace houses, semi-detached houses, bungalows, Botanica Mansion and the Prince of Wales Island International School. Botanica.CT also has its own Auxiliary Police, which was launched officially last year, for patrolling the community to oversee safety and security.

This commercial development will see the construction of a 80,000-square feet supermarket, 2 Drive-Thru restaurants and 22 units shop offices. Construction is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2018. Both supermarket and Drive-Thru restaurants will be the very first of its kind for the residents of Balik Pulau.

Dato’ Seri Kenny Ong informed that MTT Properties successfully signed tenancy agreements with TF Value-Mart Sdn. Bhd. for the supermarket in November last year and subsequently acquired Starbucks to operate the first Starbucks Drive-Thru in Balik Pulau in January of this year.

Botanica CT Centre also offers 22 units of 22’ x 75’ two-storey shop offices which will offer other retail options for this commercial precinct. It is expected to bring in retail businesses such as F&B outlets, beauty salons, convenient store, bank etc. It is now open for registration!.

Kuala Lumpur, 17 August 2018 – QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd (QSR Brands), the region’s largest quick service restaurant operator, with over 1,080 KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants in Malaysia, today announced its partnership with foodpanda, the country’s leading on-demand delivery service provider.

The partnership aligns with QSR Brands’ customer-centric strategy to create greater service accessibility for its customers to be able to enjoy offerings from KFC and Pizza Hut easier while driving profitable growth for both brands as well as foodpanda. Currently there are over 320 KFC and Pizza Hut outlets in Malaysia offering delivery services through their own platforms.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was formalised with a document exchange between Merrill Pereyra, CEO of Restaurant Division, QSR Brands and Sayantan Das, Managing Director, foodpanda Malaysia, and in the presence of Yang Berhormat Dato’ Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim, Chairman of QSR Brands, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azahari Mohamed Kamil, Managing Director, QSR Brands, and Jakob Angele, Chief Executive Officer of foodpanda Asia Pacific.

Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azahari Mohamed Kamil said that the initiative with foodpanda will complement existing delivery services by KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants and is expected to grow the number of delivery outlets for both KFC and Pizza Hut to about 480 by end of 2018 and to an estimated 730 by the end of 2019.

“This partnership with foodpanda is a progressive step towards expanding our reach by growing our delivery services across our two main quick service restaurants brands, KFC and Pizza Hut. This will provide a new revenue stream by serving not only our non-delivery outlets but also complement existing delivery outlets. KFC and Pizza Hut are household favourites in Malaysia and we strive to ensure that our customers always have a satisfying experience when they chose to dine with us, be it via in-store dining, take-out or delivery to their doorstep,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dato’ Kamaruzzaman stated that the strategic partnership is a great practice that is very much alive in the diversified Johor Corporation Group. “This will strengthen QSR Brands’ leadership position even further. Such partnerships provide the group with an edge over its competitors, allowing it to expand its presence by leveraging on its partners’ network.”

QSR Brands will play an encompassing role to assure all foodpanda halal food delivery service will be certified end-to-end in the near future from the point of pick-up to the drop-off at the consumer’s doorstep.

“Beyond that, we are proud to be able to contribute to foodpanda’s halal credentials by sharing our best practices and expertise to provide customers a greater selection of halal food outlets for delivery. QSR Brands is a trusted name in providing a consummate halal assurance to all our customers,” Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azahari added.

Customers can place their delivery orders via multiple channels across KFC, Pizza Hut and foodpanda platforms, giving them the flexibility to enjoy KFC’s and Pizza Hut’s delicious offerings anytime, anywhere with just a few clicks.

“Food delivery services have grown exponentially in Malaysia over the past 6 years and foodpanda has contributed to that growth. We are proud to add two of the biggest names in quick service restaurants in Malaysia, KFC and Pizza Hut, to our stable of over 1,900 restaurants and we hope to contribute to the growth in KFC’s and Pizza Hut’s delivery business,” Sayantan Das, Managing Director, foodpanda Malaysia said.

foodpanda’s delivery services for KFC and Pizza Hut will be rolled out in stages beginning September 2018 in the Klang Valley, Johor Bahru and Penang. The service will also offer customers 24-hour deliveries from selected KFC stores.
